Without his life-long friend, puff could not be brave, So puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. oh! 사람 대부분은 커가며 동심을 잃어갑니다. 어릴 때는 하잘것없는 것들 이를테면 나무토막 하나만으로도 자동차, 비행기, 배 등 등 ... 상상할 수 있는 모든 것으로 변신시키며 아주 잘 놀 수 있지만, 어른이 되면 그렇게 되지 않지요. 아마도 상상력을 잃었기 때문일 것입니다. 상상의 동물인 용은 서양에서는 괴물, 특히 성서에서는 악의 상징 으로 나옵니다..... 반면 동양에서는 용이 상서로운 동물로 여겨 지고 있죠. 악의 상징이든 상서로운 동물이든... 이런 용을 친구 로 둔 꼬마 Jackie는 용을 찾아가 놀며 먼 멋진 곳을 향해 항해를 하기도 하고, 해적도 만나고, 실이나 양초 같은 나름 멋진 선물을 주기도 하지만, 퍼프는 마법의 용이기 때문에 전혀 나이를 먹지 않지만, 인간인 소년은 점차 커가 면서 상상 속의 모험에 대한 관심이 줄어들고, 점점 용을 잊게 되고, 결국에는 더는 퍼프를 찾지 않아 잊힌 용은 시름에 잠겨 병들고 지친 나머지 자신의 동굴로 들어간다는 마음 한편이 짠해지는 내용 입니다. 한 치 앞을 내다보기에는 그 어느 때보다 힘든, 불확실한 현재를 살아가노라 눈앞이 빙빙 돌 지경이고 따라서 일상이 더욱 고단하 지만, 오늘 잠시만이라도 눈을 돌려 어른들을 위한 동요나 동화를 통해 어릴 적 상상의 세계로 돌아가 우리 마음속 깊은 곳에 있는 동굴 속에서 버려짐에 상심하여 병들어 있는 또 다른 퍼프들을 위로해주지 않으렵니까? 뱀 발 (蛇 足) : 이 노래를 부른 Peter, Paul and Mary는 Lemon Tree, Blowin' in the Wind, Early Morning Rain, 500 Miles 등을 부른 우리에게도 아주 익숙한 포크송 가수이지요. 그들의 노래 중 500 Miles를 오리지널 버전인 The Journeymen의 노래와 함께 링크하니 시간이 나면 함께 감상해 보시길.....
